The Country Gardener

David Nichols, Director and owner of The Country Gardener, is local to the area originating in Longridge, attending Preston Grammar School and learning some of his land based skills on farms in Longridge, Inglewhite and Chipping. However he was lured to work in insurance and, after 30 years of working for Norwich Union and Royal & Sun Alliance in different parts of the country and overseas, David decided it was time to hang up his suit and pull on the overalls again. Takeovers, mergers and restructuring in the insurance industry together with commuting to Manchester spurred him to Myerscough College where he obtained the Royal Horticultural Society General Certificate in Horticulture and studied courses in Garden Design and Landscaping.

David established The Country Gardener in 1999 and the business has grown into a registered limited company managed by David, the sole director, and supported by his wife Bette and son Jonathan. And not to forget Honey, the Glen of Imall Terrier!
