How a garden helps create a home. It is often claimed that a garden can act as an extra room. Before launching into any changes in a garden, a decision needs to be made about how the garden will be used. This will be decided not only by the desires of the owners, but also by the size of the garden, the budget available and how much time the occupiers want to spend in maintaining the garden. A well designed garden is a lovely place to grow plants and enjoy flowers. A love of delphiniums or roses or wild flowers may be indulged, with the garden designed to display the plants to their best. The construction will fit the plants: for herbaceous perennials, such as lupins and peonies, wide beds will be needed, while for alpines, raised beds are preferred to provide better drainage and also make them easier to be admired.
